Tanner was born and raised in Emporia, KS and grew up at Flint Hills Bible Church. He was raised in a solid christian home by parents who highly prioritized being involved in the church. This created a love for God's people, a desire to be with them, and a desire to serve them that ultimately led him into pastoral ministry. Saved the summer after his freshman year of high school, he was given many ministry opportunities that he loved in youth group and college ministry as a student that made his call to ministry clear. He and his wife, McKenzie, moved to Cary, NC in 2022 for him to start seminary at Shepherds Theological Seminary. While there, he served as the college/young adult ministry intern at a church in the area. In 2023, they moved back to Emporia to lead the college ministry they both were a part of as students. He continues to lead the college ministry in teaching, vision, and discipleship and will finish seminary with his Master's of Divinity degree in May 2025. He and McKenzie have been married since 2020 and have one son, Ryle.
